Top Historic Plaster Restoration Craftspeople in Westfield, MA

Historic Plaster Restoration by Novaplast is a dedicated historic plaster repair and restoration specialist with a decade of expertise in traditional plaster repair and historic surface restoration in the most architecturally significant residential properties in the Westfield, MA area.

Boston's remarkable stock of period homes requiring the kind of skilled plastering care that most modern contractors cannot provide produces a continuous market for skilled plasterers who understand the materials, techniques, and preservation standards that historic plaster requires. Their entire practice was developed to serve exactly this underserved segment of the Westfield, MA homeowner market — expertise and craftsmanship that is genuinely rare in today's construction market.

Three-coat plaster systems is fundamentally different from gypsum board construction — calling for a practitioner who understands both the material behavior and the historic context of the surface being worked on. Novaplast's plasterers are trained in both traditional three-coat lime and gypsum plaster techniques — allowing repairs that are undetectable even in raking light.

Their assessment protocol covers every surface in scope before any repair scope is finalized using a combination of visual assessment and traditional sounding to identify areas of plaster separation from the lath — catching delamination before it becomes a collapse hazard.

Isolated damage correction on specific localized failures as well as whole-surface skim coat application to restore uniformly deteriorated plaster to a smooth, paintable finish are both within Novaplast's scope. Restoration of ornamental plaster details — covering every category of architectural plaster ornamentation — is executed through cast replication or hand-formed matching suited to the level of detail and scale of the original element.

Westfield, MA residents with period architecture rely on Novaplast to preserve the character and material authenticity of their plaster surfaces for generations to come.
