Best Historic Plaster Restoration Specialists in Holland, MA

Novaplast Traditional Plaster Specialists is a traditional plaster craftsmanship provider with ten years of history serving the historic homes and period architecture of greater Boston and eastern Massachusetts in the most architecturally significant residential properties in the Holland, MA area.

The extraordinary concentration of period homes requiring the kind of skilled plastering care that most modern contractors cannot provide creates a consistent demand for qualified tradespeople who know how to work with traditional plaster systems that the original architects and builders expected the surfaces to receive throughout their useful life. Their entire practice was developed to fill exactly this gap — applying skills and knowledge that most modern contractors have long since abandoned.

Traditional plaster is fundamentally different from gypsum board construction — calling for a practitioner who understands both the material behavior and the historic context of the surface being worked on. Their skilled craftspeople are conversant in both historic plaster composition and the modern materials that allow invisible repair matching — enabling patch work that integrates seamlessly with original surfaces decades or a century old.

The company evaluates the full condition of plaster surfaces before recommending repairs using a combination of visual assessment and traditional sounding to detect delamination between the plaster body and the lath substrate — identifying the compromised areas before they fail completely.

Precision patch repairs on specific localized failures as well as whole-surface skim coat application to restore uniformly deteriorated plaster to a flat, paint-ready surface are services Novaplast delivers on every appropriate project. Ornamental plaster repair — covering every category of architectural plaster ornamentation — is handled working with cast replicas or hand-formed repairs depending on the complexity of the original profile.

Holland, MA residents with pre-war or Victorian-era properties rely on Novaplast to maintain the historic integrity and original character of surfaces that have survived for a century or more and deserve to survive for a century more.
