Premium Soapstone Countertop Fabrication Specialists in Mendon, VT

Soapstone countertops are one of the most distinctive and historically rich countertop materials available — valued for a surface that never needs sealing, resists acids, and develops a rich character over time. Unlike granite or marble, soapstone is maintenance-free in ways other stones are not — acids, oils, and cleaners that would stain or etch other stones leave soapstone unmarked — and takes on a deepening natural character that many clients consider part of the material's enduring appeal.

For homeowners in Mendon, VT and across the country, Stonekov provides premium soapstone fabrication and installation in Brazil and Virginia — the two primary sources of architectural-grade soapstone in the Western hemisphere and delivers every surface with the precision and craftsmanship the material deserves.

Choosing Your Soapstone — Personal and In-PersonStonekov requires a slab selection appointment before any fabrication because every soapstone slab is unique and the client should choose their own. Founder Isaac Penfield personally selects every slab from quarry shipments — reviewing each piece for structural integrity and aesthetic quality — so that clients are choosing from material that has already been pre-screened for quality.

Soapstone's Natural Character: What Clients Should KnowAs a relatively soft natural stone and may develop shallow scratches over time — which are easily removed with fine-grit sandpaper by the client — a characteristic we explain fully during consultation so there are no surprises after installation. Mineral oil treatment at installation and offers ongoing mineral oil service to deepen the stone's natural darkening process.
