Expert Soapstone Countertop Specialists in Pownal, VT

Soapstone offer something that engineered stone and even most natural stones cannot — uniquely beautiful, completely impervious to liquids, and able to take a hot pan directly from the stove. Where granite and quartz require periodic sealing, soapstone is maintenance-free in ways other stones are not — acids, oils, and cleaners that would stain or etch other stones leave soapstone unmarked — and develops a rich patina over time that many clients consider part of the material's enduring appeal.

In Pownal, VT and throughout the Northeast and beyond, Stonekov Soapstone Countertops provides premium soapstone fabrication and installation in Brazil and Virginia and delivers every surface to the tight tolerances and clean edges soapstone's natural elegance requires.

The Slab Selection ExperienceEvery Stonekov project begins with a slab viewing appointment so every client chooses the exact slab that will become their countertop. Founder Isaac Penfield is personally involved in slab selection before any stone enters fabrication — checking each slab for quality and suitability — so that every slab in the Stonekov inventory meets quality standards.

Understanding Soapstone's Living QualitySoapstone's softness relative to granite it can develop light surface scratches from daily use — which are easily removed with fine-grit sandpaper by the client — something we always address in our design conversation because an informed client enjoys the material more. Stonekov applies mineral oil at the time of installation and provides a mineral oil maintenance option to help the countertop develop its full character quickly.
