Trusted Historic Wood Window Restoration Experts in Pittsfield, MA

Pittsfield, MA's rich collection of Victorian, Federal, and Colonial Revival architecture means original wood windows are still in place and in use throughout the city's older residential areas — original units that often outperform their modern replacements in quality and craftsmanship and that carry irreplaceable aesthetic and historical value that new windows simply cannot replicate.

The team at Renuvex delivers nearly two decades of hands-on historic window craft to private homeowners, preservation groups, and historic property owners throughout Greater Boston and the New England region. The work performed on every window covers all elements of the window: stripping deteriorated paint layers — repairing or replacing rotted wood sections — re-bedding all glass in proper glazing compound — refurbishing the original rope, pulley, and weight operating system — addressing loose or failed joinery — and painting with materials appropriate to historic standards.

The result is the original window performing as intended, sealed properly, and looking as it should have always looked. Interior storm window solutions dramatically reduce air infiltration and heat loss while making no change to the exterior appearance — recognized under the federal preservation standards governing historic properties. For Boston-area clients in historic districts or with landmark designations — interior storm windows delivers energy efficiency without triggering preservation objections.

Clients in historic Pittsfield, MA neighborhoods with original windows they want to preserve preserve the irreplaceable original fabric of their buildings — they also escape the loss of original craftsmanship, material quality, and architectural authenticity that new windows can never provide. Renuvex founder Margaret Callahan holds a certificate in historic window restoration from a nationally recognized preservation organization who trained in traditional joinery and historic building conservation.

Margaret is directly involved in evaluating every project and oversees all work performed on properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places or located in Boston Landmark districts.
